Not Dead (Yet)

Photo taken by May Lee, Living Void's tour manager at our recent show in New Brunswick

I was reminded today that we have not posted any updates in some time. Allow me to fill you in on our recent activities.

The search for a label to release MORAL NIHILITY upon the world continues. We have pretty much decided to go for a limited self-release at this point. Expect more details in the coming weeks.

We recently played a show with our good friends Biblethumper, Fleshtemple, and Living Void from Boston at Ray Cappo's Cantina in New Brunswick. The night was a lot of fun: solid hangs and awesome people meant a good time was had by all. However, this show was very likely one of the last times DE will ever grace a basement stage. This does not mean we're through playing live, but that we will be playing fewer shows in the future.

Amidst all of this, we have slowly been working on new material. The next batch of songs mark a bit of a departure from the style exhibited on MORAL NIHILITY, so be on the lookout for something a little different from us in the time to come. J and I are also going to embark on two new side projects much more on the punk side of the spectrum in the near future, something we are both rather excited about.

In any case, be on the lookout for some updates in the coming weeks.

MORAL NIHILITY Press

It has now been about a week since we unleashed MORAL NIHILITY upon the world, and I thought it would be good to share some of the recent press we've been getting about it.

First is another stellar writeup by our longtime ally Alex at Lurker's Path. This post was actually made just before the album was streaming, summarizing what we had been up to before we released it.

Next is an interview conducted by splodo, another longtime supporter, on his blog redoubt.

Our friend Tom (whose band Capacities is about to release a new EP) wrote a review on his blog One Path For Me.

VII Caso (who previously reviewed our War Grind Hell EP) from Operation Grindcore also wrote us a brief review in which he called us "Incantation meets Assuck." I think that's a pretty accurate characterization...

Matt from the blog Blood Noose also wrote us a review. Be sure to check out his podcast!

Thanks to all who have listened to the album so far, and special thanks to those who have taken the time to write about it. Hopefully we will soon find a way to have it released physically.

Dec 2012 Updates

If anyone cares, we aren't dead. These last several months mark the longest live hiatus we have taken since the start of the band in late 2009, but it doesn't mean we have been any less productive. Below are general updates for December:

>>In less than one month, Dethroned Emperor is scheduled to record its first full-length. The name is pending. We have taken a live-hiatus for the last three months in order to focus on refining the material, but once January is upon us, expect the Emperor'rs return to live performances.
>>If you won't see us locally in the next two months and intend to get a copy of the new split, we suggest ordering a tape now becuase our supply is just about run out and this tape will not be repressed.
>>We still have a solid supply of Ripping-Death compilation CDs. There are still a few t-shirts as well in S, M, and L (though the M supply is just about done).
